WATER WATER EVERYWHERE
Water Water Everywhere is a feature film sponsored by the Oolite Cinematic Arts Residency, directed by Emma Cuba and produced by Laura San Juan.
Set in a near-future Miami slowly sinking beneath rising seas, the film follows Abuela, an 80-year-old woman displaced by rapid development, ecological collapse, and time itself. Haunted by prophetic dreams and longing for another way of being, she persuades her granddaughter Mara to take her on a journey into the Everglades. As human and non-human lives converge within the swamp, the landscape reveals itself as mystical, absurd, and meditative, allowing time to bend and grief to transform into something sacred. Through water and a final act of love, Abuela’s journey becomes not a solution to loss, but a passage through it—an intimate meditation on memory, wonder, and release in a vanishing world.
